Acupuncture is the insertion of ultra fine needles in to specifically chosen parts of the body, to stimulate the bodies own healing response and restore it's natural balance. Traditional acupuncture It aims to treat the root of your condition as well as your symptoms. Acupuncture is often used in conjunction with western medicine.

With acupuncture I treat you as a whole person, not just symptoms you are experiencing. Patients come with a diverse range of conditions such as, migraine, arthritis, headache, sciatica, frozen shoulder, muscular/ skeletal problems, digestive disorders, anxiety, depression etc. As well as the symptoms lessening after an initial treatment, patients often express that they "just feel better in themselves".

I also work with cancer patients, supporting them through chemo and radiotherapy and as palliative care.

Please take a look at the fact sheets on the British Acupuncture Councils Website to see research into what conditions acupuncture can help.

NICE (National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence) has recommended that acupuncture be made available on the NHS for chronic lower back pain. Please see fact sheet on back pain and sciatica.

Your initial acupuncture session lasts between 1 1/2 - 2 hrs and follow up treatments 45mins - 1 hr.

During the first session a full consultation will be taken to include your health history, lifestyle, diet, emotional problems etc, to build up a complete health picture to enable me to prepare a treatment plan specifically for you. I will also take your pulse on both wrists and look at your tongue, as these will help me to form a diagnosis.

This session will also include acupuncture, where ultra fine needles will be inserted into specific points on your body.
